About the Artist:

Samuel Obadero is a Nigerian-Canadian artist, photographer, and creative director whose work bridges continents and communities. Based in Calgary, he is the founder of Motif Photography; the city’s first Black-owned professional studio and a passionate storyteller with over two decades of experience. His lens documents the nuance of Black identity, migration, and memory, weaving portraits and textures into visual poetry. From the bustling streets of Lagos to the quiet resilience of Calgary's Afro-diasporic communities, Samuel’s work invites reflection and reverence. A Legacy Award recipient for New Canadian Artist of the Year and a featured speaker at Nikon Canada’s Profusion Conference, he continues to shape cultural narratives while mentoring the next generation of visual creatives and championing Mental Health Conversations.
