About the Artist
Nikki Farzi is a Calgary-based multidisciplinary artist and designer whose practice includes mixed-media work, painting, fluid art, and handcrafted jewelry. Her work is inspired by transformation, identity, nature, and personal experience, expressed through colour, texture, and form.
Artist Statement:
The Art of Becoming is an open studio exploring transformation, resilience, and creative expression. At the centre of the experience is a mixed-media figurative installation exploring personal transformation and the idea of finding beauty and meaning in what has been changed or rebuilt. Inspired by the visual language of kintsugi, the work uses contrast, texture, and gold to make traces of transformation visible rather than conceal them.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to explore my broader creative practice, including paintings and handcrafted jewelry, and learn more about the ideas, materials, and creative processes behind the works.
