About the Artist
Aeris Osborne is a Hong Kong-born Canadian painter and visual artist. She is the 2021-2022 Alberta Artist In Residence (AIR)/ Art Ambassador appointed by the Government of Alberta, the 3rd Alberta artist, and 1st immigrant and self-taught for this honorable grant award since 2019. Only one artist was selected each year by the Alberta government to represent all Arts disciplines to promote the value of the arts and artists in the province.

Aeris Osborne is a self-taught visual artist, and a registered social worker in Alberta who was born and raised in Hong Kong and moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 2007. She has been painting for over 15 years since moving to Canada and is known for painting bold impressionist heritage and landscape paintings. 

In January 2024, she was 1 of 3 Alberta artists invited to along with 14 Alberta Arts Sector’s Executive Directors an engagement meeting by the Minister of Arts, Culture, and Women Status Minister Fir to build greater public support for Alberta artists and art in the next 4 years. 

The 2022 Alberta’s Artist-in-Residence / Art Ambassador project - Alberta Old Buildings series research with traveling over 3000km, the series travel exhibit across Alberta from Edmonton, Calgary to Red Deer and received over 14 media interviews. Aeris Osborne's bold impressionist style incorporated an Augmented Reality application in the exhibition of her works using the Artivive App to show her artistic painting progress as well as the actual structure of each historical building, and more. She is interested in historical buildings and promoting the importance of preserving that history for future generations. Through this project, she met with and personally guided through  Her Honour, the Honourable Salma Lakhani, the 19th Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, and the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Status of Woman the Honourable Tanya Fir and their teams.

In 2023, The Works International Visual Arts Society selected Aeris’s “En Plein Air -Colorful Travel Journey” series and converted it into Alley Of the Light Art Boxes enlightening in Edmonton’s downtown alley. In 2020, her 1st AIR project “YEG Old Houses” at McLuhan House Artist Studio was operated by Art Habitat Edmonton and awarded the 2021 Canada Council For The Art Grant.  She won the Open Art Competition twice a year at the Allied Art Council Spruce Grove in 2015 & 2016. 

She is the 2024 Alberta Foundation For The Arts's Expert Panel- Visual Arts & New Media, 2024 ArtsHub McLuhan House Garage Studio Program's Juror, 2024- 2025 Art Ortona Advisory Committee member, 2023 Edmonton Arts Council's Grant Assessor-Stream 3, and 2022 Juror of Strathcona Art Acquisition and Salon by Strathcona County.

Lately, Aeris was invited to provide art workshops, webinars, seminars, and artist talks to the community. Her artworks were collected in North America & Asia.
