"I am inspired to offer BAL to artists of different disciplines sharing a commonplace which is the body and its expression. We all share the same emotions, and we all are moved by the same rhythms. As a newcomer artist looking to develop professional relationships and as an actress nurturing my creative process, BAL is a place to feel free and get inspired by others." Body Awareness Laboratory (BAL) is seeking actors, dancers and artists from any discipline who recognize themselves as crossing borders between artistic languages and want to explore movement to develop a process of collective creation.
BAL is a welcoming place to explore a variety of body techniques to nurture and develop an interdisciplinary theatre play throughout this year. BAL is seeking to promote multidisciplinary research and collective dialogue. This time the premise is going to be A Time to Fly as a metaphor of migrations, change of destiny, hopes and dreams that push us to fly. What is flying like for you? From connecting with the movement itself, the expansion of rhythmic body awareness in such a way could extend the expressive spectrum. As a result, this laboratory is looking to obtain the first collaborative approach. Date: March 5, 2023, from 2 – 5pm Location: Morpheus Rehearsal Centre (3512 – 5th Ave. NW), Lower level Send your resume and purpose letter to: bal.yyc.info@gmail.com Send a one-minute video with the premise A Time to Fly (you will work on this piece during the Lab session). Please use whatever technique you want, such as dancing, music, spoken word, painting, video edition, etc. *This is a project supported by CADA. BAL is committed to encourage and promote professional relationships between artists by offering a free BAL session ($250). Every selected participant will receive a payment of $50 at the end of the first session. FilesTimeline
