SNAP (The Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists) seeks applications for the Executive Director (ED) role. SNAP’s ED provides leadership to staff and volunteer committees as well as artistic guidance to programs and the artistic community. The ED executes vital operational tasks including financial and human resources management, facility management, planning and implementation of programs and schedules, and employs strategic thinking that aligns with our organization’s vision and mandate. SNAP is a leading centre for printmaking in amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton, Alberta) dedicated to advancing visual culture, working with artists, audiences, and communities. Our artist-run centre has been in operation since 1982 and will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. SNAP provides critical space and resources for printmaking production, exhibition, promotion, and education.
The ED role is vital to SNAP’s long-term sustainability. With an emphasis on inclusivity, equity, diversity, and access, the ED will be a thoughtful leader in the organization and an active participant in Edmonton’s art communities.
Job Details35 Hours/Week. Some evenings and weekends required

Salary: $50,000 – $58,000/year
Roles and ResponsibilitiesA full list of the Executive Director’s roles and responsibilities can be found below:
Artistic, educational, and studio programmingOversees the delivery of all SNAP services, including gallery exhibitions, printshop operations, education classes, professional development opportunities, and publications
Plans, organizes, and evaluates SNAP’s artistic and educational programs
Management of staff and volunteers– Hires, supervises, mentors, and evaluates all SNAP staff
– Oversees volunteer activities and recruitment
– Works with the Board of Directors on long-term, sustainable human resource strategies
Facility management– Oversees management and smooth operation of SNAP’s gallery, printshop, classroom, and offices.
– Ensures all appropriate contracts, agreements, and legal obligations are in place for the organization
– Responsible for care and maintenance of the facility and equipment
– Ensures that appropriate health, safety, and security measures are in place
Financial management– Responsible for successful grant applications from municipal, provincial, and federal arts funders and private or public foundations
– Works to diversify funding through industry support, private donations, and self-generated revenue
– Conducts and tracks SNAP’s day-to-day financial transactions
– Facilitates annual budgeting and regular monitoring of financial position with the support of the Board Treasurer and Bookkeeper
Stakeholder and community relationships– Ensures a professional and attractive public profile for the organization
– Works closely with other Artist-Run Centres and similar organizations
– Develops strong community and industry relations to promote SNAP and its members’ interests locally, nationally, and internationally
– Acts as the main spokesperson for the organization, in coordination with the Board of Directors
Support for the Board of Directors– Supports the Board of Directors through regular reports and attends all meetings
– Works closely with the Executive Committee, providing updates between meetings and discussing emerging issues
– Supports research, policy development, and strategic planning for the organization
