10/6/2022

PURPOSE
We recognize that there are many paths into arts administration. Some may enter the field as a practicing artist, a volunteer in an arts organization, or as a passionate supporter of the arts.
Wherever you are coming from – the RAFT program is for those who have been working or volunteering for less than 3 years in an arts organization and are looking to build their knowledge.

DESCRIPTION
Fundamental skills in arts management provide early-career arts professionals (0 - 3 years of experience) an opportunity to learn what it means to work in a not-for-profit arts organization.
Participants will be invited to take part in a fictional case-study story through speaking roles, discussions, role-playing, and a small group presentation.
Topics covered include organizational structure (non-profit vs charitable status), board and staff relations, financial statements, strategic planning (mission, vision, values, goals, objectives, SWOT analysis, and evaluation), and project planning.

LEARNING OUTCOME STATEMENTS
Upon successful completion of the Rozsa Admin Fundamentals Training (RAFT) program, you will be able to:

  1. Explain the real-life challenges and opportunities of being a not-for-profit arts organization
  2. Review a financial statement presented at a not-for-profit board
  3. Evaluate an organization’s mission, vision, and value statement
  4. Identify the main components that make up a strategic plan
  5. Discuss the importance of doing evaluations
  6. Construct a project plan based on answering the questions who, what, where, when, why, and how much
