February 1st, 2020 was ICAI's celebration of Black History month, in partnership with the Calgary Public Library. It was a delightful event, an afternoon filled with performances, art displays, and culture from different African and Afro-Caribbean community groups and individuals.
ICAI is an arts council based in Calgary, Alberta. The council was founded in January 2019 with the expressed purpose of connecting newcomer and immigrant artists, arts administrators and culture workers to the existing arts community in Calgary.
ICAI actively encourages diversity of expression and culture through the creation of a safe and welcoming community where newcomer and immigrant art workers feel confident to share their work and distinct cultural identities.
Black History Month was kicked off right at the Calgary Central Public Library. This event could not have been possible without the generous support of the Calgary Arts Development.
