The Immigrant Council for Arts Innovation (ICAI) is proud to announce the commencement of our Immigrant Arts Mentorship Program (IAMP). This includes introducing the public to the first cohort of mentees from amongst the new creative Canadians living in Calgary and their mentors amongst the local Calgary arts community and the first mentees.
We had so many great applications from 39 amazingly talented new Canadian creatives and we want to thank all those interested and urge them to apply again for the next cohort of the IAMP. We are so excited for this cohort; excited to celebrate them and share their stories and journeys. Success in the arts, let alone in a new country, is not easily defined or replicable, but it’s a journey that must always have a start. We hope, and work, to make sure that for these mentees this is the start of that journey and ICAI is excited to be part of that journey. This program is the product of a lot of work but also a lot of support from our community and fantastic organizational partners. We also want to celebrate and thank all of the mentors, mentees, jury members, and supporters, all of whom have inspired us with their energy and their commitment. We further want to express our appreciation to the Rozsa Foundation and Calgary Arts Development for their generous support and guidance. The program starts on July 5th, 2021 with a networking event where the mentees will get the chance to meet the mentors and other arts community stakeholders. For more information on the IAMP program or on future applications for the program, please contact programs@icaionline.org.
