The Immigrant Council for Arts Innovation (ICAI) is proud to showcase Anil Yadav work and share his talent with the Art Community in Calgary. ICAI is very proud to see how Anil has grown since his IAMP mentorship, and how he is thriving in the arts community today.
Anil is a talented sketching artist. He was a cohort in our IAMP program last year mentored by the interdisciplinary artist Francis A. Willey. This experience made him more confident as an artist and ICAI is very proud of the impact that the IAMP program had on his career. After IAMP Anil got his first exhibition in Arts Commons, now is coming back to the Downtown library with “Nazaria” a Hindi word that means our perspective on something is the way we think and feel about it. In this new exhibition, he shows the Nazaria that we have towards the way we live, think and treat everything around us. He uses paper and ink as a medium to draw energetic combinations of lines to express the mood of a scene. His Sketches are drawn directly using ink on paper leaving no possibility to edit once drawn. Calgary library level 4 shares intriguing stories about Calgary and Anil’s works speaks volume here. ICAI is excited and proud to share his works with the people of Calgary. Artistic Statement “Nazaria is a Hindi word which means our perspective to something is the way we think and feel about it. My Artwork here shows the Narazia that we have towards the way we live, think and treat everything around us. I use paper and ink as a medium to draw energetic combinations of lines to express the mood of a scene. My Sketches are drawn directly using ink on paper leaving no possibility to edit once drawn. I usually start a sketch in my little pocket sketchbook that I carry everywhere I go.” ABOUT THE CURATOR ‘Nazaria’ is curated by Immigrant Council for Arts Innovation (ICAI). The council was founded in January 2019 with the expressed purpose of connecting newcomer and immigrant artists, arts administrators and culture workers to the existing arts community in Calgary. ICAI actively encourages diversity of expression and culture through the creation of a safe and welcoming community where newcomer and immigrant art workers feel confident to share their work and distinct cultural identities. ICAI’s mission is to connect, empower, & advocate for immigrant & newcomer arts & culture workers. ICAI’s vision is to transform the arts community through opportunities designed for immigrant arts & culture workers. ICAI is bridging the gap for immigrant artists by providing them with the necessary resources, a platform, and a safe environment for their practice. By doing this, ICAI is creating a community hub in Calgary where all immigrant artists can feel safe to express themselves freely so that they can create, connect and display their works in an environment that fosters support, connection,, and inclusion, while also encouraging diversity of expression, in terms of both culture and the arts. You are invited to enjoy the works of Anil. Comments are closed.
