Exhibition Announcement: Surface all the way through by Arianna Richardson
"Time I spent, Time I wasted," stated on two pillows handcrafted by Arianna Richardson. Arianna's work // Surface all the way through // will be exhibited from October 24th to December 13th 2025, in the Mainspace at The New Gallery.
// Surface all the way through // is a collection of sculptures made from discarded materials that look like pillows. Abandoned craft supplies collected from the thrift store have been copiously layered to form decorative surfaces that conceal interiors of plastic packaging trash. While making this work with her sewing machine and vintage knitting machine, Richardson was ruminating on waste, superficiality, sentimental materialism, distraction, accumulation, and containment.
